I bought these the moment the ballet-core trend started blowing up across Milan, and they are even more impressive in person. Adidas did a phenomenal job adapting the classic silhouette for women—the leather is sleek, and the smooth internal lining makes them feel incredibly luxurious the moment you step into them.

The low-profile construction works beautifully because it keeps the iconic soccer heritage of the original Samba while completely changing the dynamic with the open slip-on style and velcro buckle strap. The dark burgundy color acts as a perfect alternative to basic neutrals, grounding outfits with a rich pop of color.

My only minor critique is that because it honors the ultra-flat construction of a traditional Samba, there is virtually no arch support in the footbed. If you plan to do heavy city trekking for hours, you might feel a bit of fatigue. That being said, for general daily wear, work, or social outings, the sheer style factor more than makes up for it.

I am completely obsessed with the look of the Samba Jane. The deep burgundy color combined with the cream white stripes and gold lettering looks incredibly high-end—almost like a designer luxury flat. However, keep in mind that the upper leather is a little stiff over the top of the foot where the strap fastens. It took me a few days of wearing them with thick socks to soften them up, but now they are perfectly comfortable.
