I choose the black version over the cream because it stays looking completely pristine. The contrast of the stark white stripes against the black leather is iconic. I’ve been eyeing the Samba Jane line for months and finally committed to the timeless black-and-white colorway. The design is absolutely brilliant—it preserves the iconic textured gum sole and serrated stripes of the original indoor soccer sneaker but opens up the top of the foot with a sleek strap to give it a high-fashion, minimalist edge.

My only minor warning is that the leather across the heel and the strap buckle can feel slightly stiff right out of the box. I got a tiny bit of friction on my first afternoon walking through Milan, so I highly recommend wearing them with thin socks for the first few outings until the leather softens and gives. Once molded to your foot, they are incredibly comfortable and flexible. A solid 4.5 out of 5 stars for design.

My new favorite shoe
Total compliment magnet. The slip-on Mary Jane style makes them so easy to wear, and the smooth internal satin lining feels very luxurious against bare skin. Fits completely true to size.

Super chic, but keep the flat silhouette in mind
This shoe bridges the gap between a casual sneaker and a dressy leather flat perfectly. The gold lettering on the side is a lovely premium touch. Just remember that it features the ultra-flat construction of a classic Samba, meaning there is zero arch support inside. If your feet require heavy cushioning, these might feel a bit minimalist, but for standard daily wear and dinners out, they are perfect.
