I missed the original 2013 launch when I was in high school, so hitting on the December 2025 retro was a dream. The contrast of that electric gamma blue Jumpman against the triple-black aesthetic is just as fierce as I remembered.

A phenomenal 30th-anniversary remaster
Jordan Brand really did an incredible job updating the shape for this holiday run. The patent leather mudguard is cut significantly higher than the 2013 version, staying truer to the original mid-90s AJ11 profile. The blacked-out Phylon midsole gives the shoe an incredibly sleek, armored look that hides dirt perfectly. It fits totally true to my standard size.

An absolute masterpiece of design, just keep a microfiber cloth handy
The 'Gamma Blue' is easily one of the most sophisticated variations Tinker Hatfield’s legendary design has ever seen. Combining the deep black ballistic mesh with a mirror-shine patent leather mudguard creates a wonderful play on textures. The tiny hits of varsity maize yellow on the heel's "23" and the tongue tag supply the perfect amount of pop. Underfoot, the full-length Air cushioning paired with the rigid carbon fiber shank plate provides elite, heavy-duty support for all-day walking.

My only minor functional critique is that the translucent black rubber outsole and the high-gloss patent leather are absolute magnets for dust, smudges, and fingerprints. If you want them to keep that menacing, fresh-out-of-the-box look, you'll want to wipe them down frequently. Sizing is snug but secure, perfectly locking down the heel with zero slippage.

Beautiful style, but expect a slightly stiff break-in
Visually, this shoe is an absolute ten out of ten—it pairs effortlessly with dark denim or baggy black cargo pants. Just keep in mind that because of the thick patent leather wrap and the high-cut ankle collar, the upper feels quite structured and rigid during your first few wears. Give them about a week of casual walking to loosen up, and the foam will mold beautifully to your stride.

I've been tracking sneaker drops all through the mid-2020s, and this reissue easily stands out as a top-tier release. What makes the Gamma 11 so special is how it completely flips the traditional color blocking of classics like the Concord or Space Jam by going full "night mode," while still retaining that premium luxury basketball identity.

Functionally, the performance holds up remarkably well. The webbed ghillie lacing system pulls the upper tightly around the midfoot for a perfect, zero-slip fit, and the internal padded collar eliminates any risk of ankle chafing. The ventilation through the ballistic nylon panels is surprisingly good, preventing your feet from overheating on warmer spring afternoons. It holds its sleek shape beautifully without forming ugly, aggressive creases across the toe box due to the upgraded leather quality on this run. If you want a durable, history-rich statement piece that instantly elevates a street outfit, this is an exceptional release.
